Manchester Township covers about 82 square miles of Ocean County. It shares the Lakehurst naval air base, site of the 1937 Hindenburg disaster, with neighboring Jackson. - Manchester Township Public Works runs curbside bulk pickup twice a year and leaf and brush pickup twice a year, on dates set by zone or community. The township says it collects no more than 8 cubic yards of bulk (about 5 feet wide, 4 feet high and 10 feet long) from a home per pickup, and once crews have passed a home they won't return.
- Residents with a township-issued vehicle sticker can bring household waste, recyclables and bulk items to the Whiting Recycling Center on Sam Pitts Road, off Route 70. Stickers go only to people who live in the township. You need a driver's license and the vehicle's registration, plus a utility bill as proof of residency if they don't show a Manchester address.
- The township offers a special bulk pickup for the death of a homeowner or a resident moving out of Manchester, but not for move-ins. A resident or family member must request it in person at the Public Works office in Town Hall, with proof of residency and a death certificate, contract of sale or lease as needed. Realtors, landlords and rubbish removal contractors can't apply.
- Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are only picked up on bulk day with a Certificate of Freon Removal from a certified contractor on the unit. Electronics with cords should be stacked separately at the curb or taken to the Whiting Recycling Center.
- Lakehurst is a separate borough completely surrounded by Manchester Township, so Lakehurst residents should check the borough's own trash rules.

Furniture, doors, cabinets, mattresses, appliances and other metal items are taken, and carpet must be cut, rolled, tied and dry. There's a volume limit per home. Crews won't take construction debris, tires, hazardous waste, concrete, tree stumps, propane tanks, or motorized vehicles and boats, and freon appliances need a removal certificate on them. Residents with a township vehicle sticker can also bring bulk items to the Whiting Recycling Center.
