What an estate cleanout involves
Clearing out a loved one's home is a big job, physically and emotionally. There's usually a lifetime of furniture, boxes and bags in every room, plus a basement, attic, garage or shed nobody has opened in years.
We handle the heavy part. Dominic, the owner, works jobs himself alongside his crew. We do all the lifting and carrying from anywhere on the property, haul everything away and sweep up at the end. As Gretchen W. wrote, "…in just 2.5 hrs, they emptied the contents of a house, shed, garage & patio."
Keeping what the family wants to keep
Estate cleanouts are rarely all-or-nothing. We've done jobs where the family wanted certain items kept, and we clear around them. A little prep beforehand makes the day go smoothly:
- Decide what's staying, then mark it clearly or gather it in one room we can skip.
- Check drawers, closets, coat pockets and boxes for papers, photos, jewelry and keys.
- If you're holding an estate sale or selling pieces, do that first.
- Mention any take-down work, like an old shed, deck or hot tub, when you ask for a price.
How the job works
We do estate cleanouts in towns across Monmouth, Mercer, Middlesex, Ocean and Burlington counties, from Freehold and Manalapan to Hightstown and Old Bridge. Text photos of each room to (855) 655-7552, since Dominic often quotes from photos, or book a free, no-obligation in-person estimate online. Either way, you get one price for the whole job.
- Pick a day. Same-day and next-day openings are often available; call or text early for the best chance.
- We text you before we arrive.
- We carry everything out ourselves, from upstairs bedrooms to the back of the shed. Nothing needs to go to the curb.
- We're careful inside the home and sweep up before we leave.
What we take, and what we can't
Nearly everything in a home can go: furniture, beds and mattresses, appliances including refrigerators, carpet, boxes and bags of household contents, and whatever is filling the basement, attic, garage or shed. We can also take apart and remove an old shed, deck, hot tub or playset as part of the same job.
We can't take hazardous materials: paint, chemicals, motor oil, propane tanks, asbestos or medical waste. Older homes often have leftover paint cans and cleaners in the basement or garage, so please set those aside. Not sure about something? Text us a photo.
How pricing works for estate cleanouts
Estate cleanouts are priced per job, not per truckload, because the size of the load is only part of the work. Four things set the price: what's going, how much there is, how hard it is to reach, and any take-down work. Stairs, attics, crawlspaces, tight hallways and long carries from a back shed all take more work than furniture in a ground-floor room. Appliances with refrigerant, mattresses and tires cost more to dispose of legally, and take-down work like a shed or hot tub adds labor. As Dominic puts it, half a truck carried down six flights of stairs costs more than a full truck already in the driveway. Your price covers all lifting, loading and carrying, hauling and disposal fees, donation and recycling drop-offs, and the sweep-up. The price we quote is the price you pay, with no hidden fees. If you add items on the day, we'll tell you the new price before anything else goes on the truck.
