Junk removal in Jackson
Jackson Township covers about 100 square miles, more than any other town in Ocean County. It's home to Six Flags Great Adventure, part of it lies in the Pinelands National Reserve, and it takes in places like Cassville, Whitesville, Vista Center and Jackson Mills. The township doesn't collect household trash, so residents hire their own hauler. Public Works does run a scheduled curbside bulk pickup by zone, and residents can drop bulky items at the Transfer Station on Don Connor Boulevard.
Both come with limits. Curbside piles have to fit in a 4-by-4-by-8-foot space, construction debris at the Transfer Station needs a voucher and is capped each year, and the township says the Transfer Station is not for emptying a whole house. When the job is bigger than that, text photos to (855) 655-7552 for one upfront price, with a $250 minimum. Good to know in Jackson
- Jackson Township (ZIP 08527) does not provide residential curbside garbage collection. The township's Garbage Collection page lists private haulers residents can contact for household trash.
- Curbside bulky waste can go out up to 48 hours before your zone's scheduled pickup, in a neat pile no larger than 4 by 4 by 8 feet. Accepted items are furniture, appliances, bedding, pool covers and metal generated by the homeowner, and mattresses and cushions must be covered. The township says bulky pickup is not for a landlord cleaning out an entire house.
- The Transfer Station on Don Connor Boulevard, across from the Senior Center, is for Jackson residents only, with two forms of ID required. It does not allow contractors, commercial plates or rental trucks, black bags, tires, gasoline, paint or propane tanks, and there's a limit on trips per day.
- Construction debris at the Transfer Station requires a voucher from Public Works, and the township ordinance allows no more than two per residential lot per year. It covers debris from the homeowner's own work, not a contractor's, and the township has added carpet, flooring and hot tubs to the voucher list.
- Jackson is the largest municipality by area in Ocean County, at about 100.55 square miles. It borders Lakewood, Manchester, Plumsted and Toms River in Ocean County, and Freehold Township, Howell, Millstone and Upper Freehold in Monmouth County.
Bulk trash pickup in Jackson
Jackson Township Public Works collects bulky waste at the curb on a schedule set by zone. You can find your zone on the township website or by calling Public Works. Items can go out up to 48 hours before your pickup, in a neat pile no bigger than 4 by 4 by 8 feet. Furniture, appliances, bedding, pool covers and metal are accepted, but not construction debris, electronics, hazardous waste, paint, masonry, glass, mirrors, light bulbs, items in cardboard boxes or dark plastic bags. Check the current zone schedule before setting anything out. Residents can also bring bulky items to the Transfer Station on Don Connor Boulevard with proof of residency.
