Junk removal in Bayville

Bayville is where Berkeley Township keeps its Town Hall, Public Works yard and Recycling Center, all on Pinewald-Keswick Road, and ZIP 08721 covers more than half the township's land. Berkeley also takes in Holiday City, Silver Ridge, Holiday Heights, Pinewald, Manitou Park and its own section of Pelican Island. In bayside homes and the Holiday City communities alike, we take on everything from decks, hot tubs and above-ground pools to whole-home cleanouts.

Berkeley picks up bulk by appointment, from a request form that lists every item, and it won't take sheds, fencing, construction material or pressure-treated lumber (details below). Text photos to (855) 655-7552 for one upfront price ($250 minimum). Once you say yes, we take down what has to come down, carry everything out and sweep up, and most jobs are hauled the same visit.

Good to know in Bayville

  • Bayville is part of Berkeley Township, not a town of its own, and so are Holiday City, Silver Ridge, Holiday Heights, Pinewald and Manitou Park, so the township's trash rules cover all of them. Some Berkeley homes have a Toms River 08757 mailing address. Pine Beach and Beachwood are separate boroughs, even though Berkeley's construction office handles their inspections.
  • Berkeley's Recycling Center at 630 Pinewald-Keswick Road is for township residents with proof of residency: a valid driver's license, a tax bill or a utility bill. It takes metal, appliances, tires, electronics, paint cans and leaves, along with everyday recyclables. Furniture, general bulk and construction debris aren't on its list.
  • Township code bars construction debris from township pickup. Appliances like refrigerators, washers, ranges and water heaters are collected only when scheduled, and one over 250 pounds isn't picked up. Mattresses have to be in a mattress bag or wrapped in plastic.
  • The township doesn't collect trash from businesses or from multifamily properties with four or more units, so owners there need their own plan for a rental turnover or an office cleanout.
  • Berkeley's flood letter reminds owners of homes in the 100-year floodplain that if repairs from any damage would reach half the home's value, the home has to be raised or retrofitted, and it asks residents to check with the Construction Department before they rebuild, re-grade or fill. After water damage, we carry out the ruined contents once the house is safe: see fire and water damage cleanouts.

Bulk trash pickup in Bayville

Berkeley Township picks up bulk by appointment, not on a set day. You fill out the township's Bulk Collection Request form, which covers bulk, appliance, metal and electronics pickups, and list every item: anything you don't list isn't picked up. A Public Works representative then contacts you with your collection timeframe, and items go to the curb the evening before, no earlier than 4 p.m. Approved items are furniture, wrapped mattresses and box springs, non-treated lumber and household items that don't fit in the trash can. Construction material, pressure-treated lumber, sheds, fencing, trash bags, masonry and hazardous waste aren't picked up, and setting out the contents of a whole house takes a separate cleanout request and fee.

Missed bulk pickup in Bayville?

In Berkeley, bulk doesn't come on a set day. You send in the request, wait for Public Works to give you a timeframe, and only the items you listed are picked up, so a forgotten dresser stays at the curb. The township also tells residents not to put bulk out expecting it to be picked up right after they call.

Rather than wait, text photos to (855) 655-7552 for one upfront price. Same-day and next-day openings are often available.

Where your junk goes

Ocean County loads go toOcean County Landfill, Manchester

Berkeley's own FAQ tells residents with a one-time overflow of trash to hold it for the next collection or take it to the Ocean County Landfill, on Route 70 in Manchester Township. Ocean County's solid waste plan sends all trash that can't be recycled there too, so that's where the leftover part of a Berkeley load goes. The landfill is privately owned and operated, separate from the county's solid waste department.

Before that, the load gets sorted. Scrap metal is recycled, licensed recyclers take the concrete, tires and electronics, and usable furniture is donated when possible. Gasoline, propane tanks, pool chemicals and paint stay off our truck. Berkeley's Recycling Center takes paint cans from township residents, and Ocean County's household hazardous waste program takes pool chemicals, gasoline and propane tanks from residents who register.

Shed, deck, pool and hot tub removal in Bayville

Berkeley's bulk program lists sheds, fencing, construction material, pressure-treated lumber and masonry among the items it won't pick up, and township code bars construction debris from township pickup. So an old shed, deck, hot tub, above-ground pool or playset needs a private plan. We take the structure down ourselves, load every board, panel and piece of metal onto our truck, haul it all away and sweep up where it stood.

The pool in the before-and-after at the top of this page was ours: an above-ground pool set into a deck beside a Bayville lagoon. We took the pool out and hauled it away, and left the deck around it standing. Photos of the structure and the path to it are enough for one price on the whole take-down.

Bayville junk removal FAQ

Does Berkeley Township pick up bulk trash?

Yes, by appointment. Fill out the township's Bulk Collection Request form and list every item, because only listed items are picked up. Public Works then gives you a collection timeframe, and items go out the evening before, no earlier than 4 p.m. Sheds and construction material aren't picked up at all, and we haul both.

Will Berkeley take an old shed?

No. The township's bulk program lists sheds, fencing, construction material, pressure-treated lumber and masonry as not approved, and township code bars construction debris from township pickup. We take the shed down ourselves, load every panel and board, and sweep up the spot. Decks, hot tubs, above-ground pools and playsets work the same way.

Do you remove hot tubs and above-ground pools in Bayville?

Yes. We cut a hot tub apart where it sits, whether that's on a deck, a patio or beside the house, carry the pieces out and haul them away, cover and steps included. An above-ground pool works the same way: we take it down, haul it off and leave the ground clear.

How much does junk removal cost in Bayville?

One price covers the whole job, based on what's going, how much there is and how hard it is to reach, from a pool behind a bayside home to a spare room in Holiday City. There's no form and no timeframe to wait for. Jobs start at a $250 minimum, and what we quote is what you pay.

Do you work in Holiday City and Silver Ridge?

Yes. Holiday City, Silver Ridge and Holiday Heights are all part of Berkeley Township, and we clear homes there at one price for downsizing moves and estates. If your home is in a community with a homeowners association, ask about truck parking and work hours, and tell us what they say when you ask for a price.

My address says Toms River. Is my home in Berkeley?

It might be. Parts of Berkeley Township have a Toms River 08757 mailing address, and that ZIP also reaches into South Toms River and Manchester. Berkeley's bulk rules apply only to homes in the township, so your tax bill is the place to check. We serve all of them either way.
