Junk removal in Lakehurst

Lakehurst is a small borough with a lake of its own. Lake Horicon is stream-fed, with the cedar water of the Pine Barrens and a park at Union Avenue and Lake Street. Large Victorian homes line Church Street down to the shore, older homes sit along tree-lined Union Avenue, and Westlake and Pinehurst Estates lie on the north side of Route 70. It was the Village of Manchester until it became a borough in 1921, and it still calls itself the Airship Capital of the World: Navy Lakehurst, where the Hindenburg crashed, is nearby.

The borough collects its own trash in 95-gallon robo cans, and bulk goes out once a month, five large items per household at most (details below). A whole-house cleanout, a load of remodel debris or a fridge that can't go to the curb needs another plan. Text photos to (855) 655-7552 for one upfront price ($250 minimum). Once you say yes, we carry it out from wherever it sits, from a Church Street attic to a backyard shed, and most jobs are hauled on the first visit.

Good to know in Lakehurst

  • Lakehurst (ZIP 08733) is its own borough, and its Public Works department picks up the trash and recycling itself. There's no private hauler to sign up with, and Manchester Township's bulk schedule doesn't cover Lakehurst homes.
  • Trash and recycling go out in the borough's 95-gallon robo cans, green for trash and blue for recycling. Loose trash bags, recycling and cardboard aren't allowed outside the can, and the borough tells residents to put out only what fits in it. Routes split at Route 70, with Barker's Village, Lake Street and Chestnut Street on one day and Westlake, Pinehurst Estates and the Lakehurst Mobile Home Park on another.
  • Refrigerators, air conditioners and dehumidifiers can't go to the curb. The borough's 2025 solid waste ordinance sends items with CFCs, plus tires off the rim and propane tanks, to the Public Works yard for a fee, and the garage won't accept a fridge, freezer, air conditioner or tire without a receipt from Borough Hall or Public Works.
  • Metal goes out on its own Fridays, and the 2025 ordinance limits curbside metal to pieces 4 feet long or less and 50 pounds at most; we take metal at any size. On certain Saturday mornings, the Public Works Garage takes leaves, brush, wood, furniture, debris, bricks, metal and dry paint cans, but not household trash or hazardous containers. The borough's page lists the open Saturdays two different ways, so check with Public Works before you load up.
  • Rechargeable batteries, like lithium-ion and nickel-cadmium, are banned from the trash and recycling. Residents can bring them to the Public Works Yard at 800 Myrtle Street with proof of residency.

Bulk trash pickup in Lakehurst

Lakehurst Public Works collects bulk at the curb once a month, on the third Friday, and each household can set out no more than five large items or electronics that month. Covered electronics, like computers, monitors and TVs, go out on bulk day and count toward the five. Under the borough's 2025 solid waste ordinance, items like mattresses, couches, chairs and dressers go in the road against the curb, no earlier than the evening before, and each one has to be a size and weight the crew can reasonably handle. Refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, tires and propane tanks can't go to the curb at all; they go to the Public Works yard for a fee. The borough posts schedule changes on its bulletin boards at the Community Center on Center Street and at Lake Horicon Park.

Missed bulk pickup in Lakehurst?

Lakehurst's bulk day comes once a month, on the third Friday, and five large items or electronics is the limit for the whole month. A loveseat, two side tables, a dresser and an old TV already make five, and loose bags can't sit beside the can at all. Miss the date, or go past five, and the rest waits for next month's pickup or a Saturday trip to the Public Works Garage.

Rather than wait, text photos to (855) 655-7552 for one upfront price. Same-day and next-day openings are often available.

Where your junk goes

Ocean County loads go toOcean County Landfill, Manchester

Ocean County's solid waste plan sends trash that can't be recycled to the Ocean County Landfill on Route 70 in Manchester Township, the same highway that splits Lakehurst's trash routes. The county lists it for bulky trash disposal, and it's privately owned and operated, separate from the county's solid waste department.

The sorting comes first. Scrap metal is recycled, licensed recyclers take the concrete, tires and electronics (state law keeps TVs and computers out of the trash), and usable furniture is donated when possible. Paint and other hazardous products stay off our truck. For paint cans that aren't empty, the borough refers residents to the county's Northern Recycling Center on New Hampshire Avenue in Lakewood.

Remodel debris and take-downs in Lakehurst

Lakehurst's 2025 solid waste ordinance took out the old rule that let residents bundle lumber, shingles and wallboard for the curb, and the borough's recycling sheet says excessive construction debris and whole-house cleanouts will require a dumpster. We load it straight onto our truck instead, whether it's construction debris from a remodel or the contents of a whole house, so there's no dumpster sitting in the driveway.

Backyard structures work the same way. When an old shed, deck, hot tub, above-ground pool or playset has to go, we take it apart on site ourselves, haul every board, panel and piece of metal away, and sweep up where it stood.

Lakehurst junk removal FAQ

Does Lakehurst pick up bulk trash?

Yes, once a month. Public Works collects bulk on the third Friday, up to five large items or electronics per household, set in the road against the curb no earlier than the evening before. Fridges, air conditioners, tires and propane tanks can't go out at all. When you have more than five pieces, we carry everything out at one price.

Can a refrigerator or air conditioner go to the curb in Lakehurst?

No. The borough's ordinance keeps refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and other items with CFCs off the curb. They go to the Public Works yard for a fee, and the garage won't take one without a receipt from Borough Hall or Public Works. We take fridges, freezers and AC units from wherever they sit, with no receipt or yard trip.

Will Lakehurst take remodel debris or a whole-house cleanout?

Not at the curb. The borough's recycling sheet says excessive construction debris and whole-house cleanouts will require a dumpster, and the 2025 ordinance removed the old curbside allowance for bundled lumber, shingles and wallboard. We load both straight onto our truck, so nothing waits in the driveway.

How much does junk removal cost in Lakehurst?

One price covers the whole job: what's going, how much of it there is and how far we carry it, whether that's an attic on Church Street or a shed behind a home in Westlake. There's no five-item cap and no receipt to pick up first. Jobs start at a $250 minimum, and what we quote is what you pay.

Can you take down a shed or above-ground pool in Lakehurst?

Yes. We take sheds, decks, hot tubs, above-ground pools and playsets apart ourselves, load every piece and sweep up where it stood. Photos of the structure and the path to it are enough for a price.
