What above-ground pool removal includes
An above-ground pool comes apart in layers. We cut out the liner, take off the top rails and uprights, then take down the wall and cut it into sections that fit on the truck. Everything is carried out of the yard by us. Dominic, who owns the company, works jobs alongside his crew.
Along with the pool itself, we haul:
- The liner, wall panels, top rails, uprights and bottom track
- Ladders and steps
- The pump, filter, hoses and skimmer, once they're disconnected
- Winter covers, solar covers and cover reels
- A wooden deck or platform built around the pool, quoted as one job with the pool
Getting the pool ready
These steps are yours before removal day. They keep the job safe and the price accurate.
- Drain the pool, as low as your pump will take it. In New Jersey, draining a backyard pool falls under your town's stormwater rules, not a state permit, so ask your town where the water can go before you start pumping.
- Have a licensed electrician disconnect the pump and any other wiring. We don't do electrical work.
- Move pool chemicals out of the area: chlorine, shock, algaecide and acid. We can't haul them.
- Set aside anything you plan to keep or sell, like a newer pump or filter.
- Unlock the gate and tell us the best way into the yard.
Pool chemicals and what we can't take
Pool chemicals are household hazardous waste, so they can't ride on our truck. Your county's household hazardous waste program is the place for them. Ocean County lists pool chemicals on its household hazardous waste collection days, which require registration and proof of residency. Monmouth County runs a household hazardous waste drop-off facility in Tinton Falls for county residents. Check the current schedule and rules before you go.
We also can't take propane tanks, paint, motor oil, asbestos or medical waste. Not sure about something by the pool? Text us a photo.
Where the old pool goes
Metal gets recycled. Once the liner is off, steel or aluminum wall panels, rails and uprights go to a local scrap yard. The liner, plastic parts and padding go to the licensed facility for the county the job is in, such as the Ocean County Landfill in Manchester or the Monmouth County Reclamation Center in Tinton Falls.
Permits, the sand base and what's left behind
New Jersey's construction code generally requires a permit from the local construction official before a structure is demolished, and each town sets its own permit fees. Call your town's construction office to ask whether taking down your pool needs one, and have it in place before removal day.
When the pool is gone, expect a circle of sand or bare ground where it sat. If you want the sand base hauled away too, show it in your photos and ask about it when you get your price.
How it works
Text a few photos of the pool, the equipment and the way into the yard to (855) 655-7552. Dominic often quotes from photos, or you can book a free estimate online. Once the pool is drained and disconnected, same-day and next-day openings are often available.
We take down above-ground pools across Ocean, Monmouth, Burlington, Mercer and Middlesex counties, from Jackson, Brick and Toms River to Cream Ridge, Chesterfield and Hamilton. We're based in New Egypt, licensed as an NJ A-901 hauler (NJDEP #0042737) and insured.
How pricing works for above-ground pool removal
Above-ground pool removal is priced per job, not per truckload. The price depends on the pool's size and shape, what it's made of, how much equipment goes with it, and how far we carry everything to the truck. A small round pool near the driveway is a lighter job than a large oval pool with a wraparound deck behind a fenced yard. A deck or other junk from the yard adds to the scope, so include it in your photos. The minimum for any job is $250. The price covers take-down, carrying, loading, hauling, disposal fees and cleanup, and it's the price you pay. If something gets added on the day, you hear the new price before it goes on the truck.
Every job is priced individually. The price we quote is the price you pay — no hidden fees. See how we price jobs.
