Junk removal in Florence
Florence Township runs along the Delaware River in Burlington County. Its roughly 10 square miles take in two communities, Florence and Roebling, plus smaller spots like Bustleton and Florence Station. The Florence Iron Works, founded on the riverbank in 1857, was long a major force in Florence's economy. - Large items that can't be recycled, such as couches, dining tables and mattresses, go curbside with regular trash. The township asks residents to set out manageable amounts at a time, notes that breaking big items into smaller pieces helps the crews, and its trash page sets a weight limit for each bulk item. Public Works is not permitted to enter homes, so everything has to be at the curb.
- Bulk recyclables (metal shelving, microwaves, electronics and other metal items) and white goods such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers and water heaters are picked up at the curb only when scheduled through the Florence Township Clerk's Office. Doors must be removed from appliances before pickup.
- The township's trash page says its contract does not cover disposing of house contents in bulk. If you're moving or clearing out a home, you're expected to arrange your own disposal, such as a dumpster, and sellers are urged to hold money in escrow if it can't be done before settlement.
- The Florence Township Recycling Center on Summer Street is a residents-only convenience center, and attendants check proof of residence. It takes items like recyclables, metal, wood waste, electronics, leaves and branches, but not household trash or furniture, and contractors can't drop job debris there.
