Junk removal in East Windsor
East Windsor is a Mercer County township of about 15.7 square miles. The New Jersey Turnpike, with its Exit 8, runs through it, and so do Route 33 and Route 130. It completely surrounds Hightstown, which is a separate borough, and it includes Twin Rivers, described as New Jersey's first planned unit development, along with places like Etra and Hickory Corner. Where you live matters for trash. The township's Garbage District covers all of East Windsor except Twin Rivers and several other private communities that arrange their own trash and recycling.
In the Garbage District, bulk items go to the curb once a month on your street's assigned bulk day, with limits on pile size, and metal appliances wait for a separate white goods day. Everything has to be at the curb, and TVs and computers can't go to the curb at all. - The East Windsor Garbage District covers the township except private communities that provide their own trash and recycling. The township lists them as Twin Rivers, Windsor Regency, Windsor Mill, Georgetown, Northgate (The Orchard), Westfield Road, Stonegate and Riviera. If you live in one of these, ask your association or management office how bulk items are handled.
- Township bulk pickup takes mattresses, furniture, scrap wood, doors, windows (no broken glass), fencing, non-metal shelving and other items too big or too heavy (over 50 pounds) for household trash. The township asks for no more than two piles, each no larger than 6 by 4 feet, with no sharp edges and no exposed nails in wood.
- Metal-cased appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, air conditioners and water heaters are not bulk. They go out on the township-wide white goods pickup, appliance doors must be removed, and the township only collects them from the curb, not from anywhere else on the property.
- Under state law, televisions and computers can't go out with trash or bulk. East Windsor residents can drop off electronics, car batteries, tires (rims removed) and white goods at the Public Works facility on Ward Street during its posted hours.
- East Windsor addresses use ZIP 08520, which Hightstown Borough also uses, or 08512, which Cranbury also uses. A shared ZIP code doesn't tell you which town's trash rules apply, so check which municipality your home is in.
Bulk trash pickup in East Windsor
